The United Nations has lauded Egypt’s growing role in global peacekeeping, spotlighting the exceptional performance of 750 Egyptian peacekeepers serving with the UN mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).

During a formal medal ceremony held at the end of July, top UN officials—including MINUSCA Support Director Ebrima Ceesay and Force Commander Lt. Gen. Humphrey Nyone—praised the Egyptian infantry battalion for its “professionalism, dedication, and high combat readiness” in a highly volatile security environment.
The Egyptian contingent, deployed since September 2024, has played a pivotal role in protecting civilians and maintaining public order, particularly through day and night patrols in high-risk areas. UN officials credited the battalion with helping secure 22 strategic sites across the country, including several voter registration centers critical to the CAR’s democratic process.
The ceremony, attended by senior mission leadership and military officials, featured a live demonstration of operational capabilities by the Egyptian peacekeepers—both men and women—underscoring their readiness to respond to threats and uphold the UN mandate.

With rising instability in parts of the Central African Republic, Egypt’s contribution is increasingly seen as vital to regional peace and the protection of civilians, reaffirming Cairo’s broader commitment to African security and multilateral cooperation.
