Egypt and Chad have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in pharmaceuticals, biological products and medical supplies, as part of efforts to deepen health-sector partnerships between the two African countries.
The MoU was signed by Ali Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), and Abdel Megid Abdel Rahim Mohamed, Chad’s Minister of Public Health and Prevention, on the sidelines of the Alamein-Africa Summit and Forum in New Alamein City.
The signing was attended by Egyptian Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Chad’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Chadians Abroad Ahmed Kourgui, and Mohamed Karim Sherif, Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs.
The agreement aims to expand the exchange of technical and regulatory expertise and information, while strengthening cooperation in pharmaceutical regulation and oversight.
It also seeks to support the development of practices related to the safety, quality and efficacy of medical products and enhance regulatory capacities in both countries.
Ghamrawy’s participation in the African summit reflects Egypt’s efforts to expand pharmaceutical cooperation with African countries, promote regulatory coordination and exchange expertise, and support greater integration of the continent’s pharmaceutical sector.
The agreement is also expected to open new opportunities for cooperation and partnerships between Egyptian and Chadian institutions in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.
