Algeria and Zimbabwe have signed a series of cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding covering vital sectors such as trade, investment, tourism, vocational training, and higher education. The agreements were finalized during the two-day state visit of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa to Algiers.
In a joint press conference, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his Zimbabwean counterpart highlighted the strong alignment between the two nations on regional and international matters, emphasizing their shared commitment to peaceful conflict resolution in Africa, respect for state sovereignty, and opposition to foreign interference.
President Tebboune described the visit as a clear reflection of both countries’ political will to deepen bilateral ties, culminating in the conclusion of the fourth session of the Algeria-Zimbabwe Joint Commission. He noted that the newly signed accords aim to boost collaboration in multiple strategic areas.
Both leaders condemned the ongoing Israeli actions against the Palestinian people and reiterated their support for the Palestinian right to establish an independent state.
President Mnangagwa hailed the historic and revolutionary nature of the relationship between Zimbabwe and Algeria, rooted in decades of solidarity and anti-colonial struggle. He also voiced support for reforms to the current global order and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to joint efforts in curbing arms proliferation, resolving regional and international conflicts, and combating terrorism.
