In his Easter address, President Bola Tinubu expressed his deep concern over the recent surge in terrorist attacks across northern Nigeria, particularly in the Plateau and Benue states. These regions have been severely impacted, with gunmen killing at least 52 people and displacing nearly 2,000 others over several days of violence. The attacks have raised alarm and prompted urgent calls for action to restore peace and security.
President Tinubu reassured Nigerians that his administration remains unwavering in its commitment to confronting the growing threat of terrorism. “The recent tragic incidents and the loss of lives in some parts of our country deeply saddened me. […] Let me assure you that my administration’s resolve to restore peace and security remains unshakable,” he stated.
Highlighting the efforts of Nigeria’s security forces, Tinubu acknowledged the bravery of the men and women in uniform, noting that significant progress is being made in the fight against insurgents. “With the unwavering courage and commitment of our gallant men and women in uniform, we are turning the tide and making steady progress in reclaiming peace and stability,” the president affirmed. He emphasized that despite the challenges, the government’s focus remains on restoring security, rebuilding affected communities, and preventing further violence in the region.
