Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived in Egypt to participate in the Alamein Africa Forum, which focuses on advancing investment and economic cooperation across the continent.
In a post on the social media platform X, Mohamud stated his intention to highlight Somalia’s growing investment opportunities during the gathering in the Mediterranean city of New Alamein.
“I look forward to highlighting Somalia’s growing investment opportunities and engaging fellow African leaders on enhancing economic partnerships,” the president wrote.
Mohamud arrived on Friday with a senior Somali delegation. The forum brings together African heads of state, government officials, financial institutions, and business figures to discuss trade, investment, and economic development.
The first Alamein Africa Forum opened Friday in the northern Egyptian coastal city of El Alamein, bringing together around 1,500 African business leaders to discuss investment, trade and economic cooperation. Running from Oct. 2 to 4, the forum aims to promote greater economic integration and business cooperation across the continent. It is co-organized by the Egyptian government, the African Export-Import Bank, and the African Union Development Agency.
The gathering also coincides with high-level regional meetings hosted by Egypt, including a summit of the founding countries of AUDA-NEPAD and the eighth mid-year coordination meeting of the African Union.
