Senegal’s agricultural sector is set to receive substantial support from Russia, according to Modou Gueye Seck, an agriculture adviser to the Senegalese Prime Minister.
The cooperation will focus on several key initiatives, including:
- Supplying batches of seeds
- Assisting with the implementation of organic fertilizers
- Providing training for specialized personnel
Additionally, Russia’s support will extend to the establishment of a Senegalese seed bank, led by the Senegalese Institute for Agricultural Research, as well as efforts to enhance wheat cultivation and fertilizer production.
Alexander Biryukov, Vice President of the International Organization of Eurasian Cooperation (MOES), highlighted Senegal as a strategic partner for Russia in Africa. The organization’s efforts will also include creating a seed fund and facilitating the training of Senegalese specialists in Russia.
This collaboration underscores the growing agricultural ties between the two nations, with Russia playing a pivotal role in strengthening Senegal’s agricultural infrastructure and expertise.
