In a historic step towards both cultural preservation and economic growth, Zambia’s Central Bank has officially launched a new series of banknotes and coins that reflect the nation’s diverse heritage and its aspirations for the future. This updated currency set, which includes six new banknotes and six coins, will circulate alongside the old currency for the next year, allowing for a smooth transition.
The unveiling ceremony took place in Lusaka, where Zambia’s Finance Minister, Situmbeko Musokotwane, emphasized that the new currency pays homage to the country’s breathtaking natural beauty, rich cultural traditions, and its economic potential.
