Russian President Vladimir Putin and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa held a phone conversation on Sunday, focusing on the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. Putin emphasized the necessity of addressing the underlying causes of the conflict, underlining Russia’s security concerns as a critical element of the discussions.
During the call, Putin also took the opportunity to congratulate Ramaphosa and the people of South Africa on the upcoming Freedom Day, which will be celebrated on April 27. The day marks the anniversary of the country’s first democratic elections held in 1994.
