Addis Ababa – Thousands gathered at Millennium Hall for the funeral of Haji Mufti Umer Idris, the late First Mufti and former President of Ethiopia’s Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs. The ceremony drew prominent figures from various faiths, including Ethiopian Orthodox Church Patriarch Abba Matthias I, who paid respects to the widely revered religious leader.

Islamic scholars and clerics led the procession, reciting Quranic verses. The ceremony featured prayers, readings, and eulogies celebrating Mufti Umer Idris’s life and legacy. Mourners included government officials, community leaders, and members of the Muslim community.
