Egypt, serving as Chair of the Africa Day Organizing Committee on behalf of the African Group of Ambassadors based in Harare, arranged a series of meetings and preparations to ensure the continental event was memorable this year.

The Africa Day activities included an official inauguration day held at the Museum of African Liberation. This event was attended by Professor Amon Murwira, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe, and Dr. Barbra Rudzi, Minister of Tourism and Hospitality of the Republic of Zimbabwe. Also present were the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador of Rwanda Dr. James Musoni, alongside various other dignitaries, ambassadors, members of Egyptian and African communities, and local public figures.
In addition to the inauguration, the programme featured an African Movies Festival on 28 May and a Marathon on 31 May. Organisers stated these events were designed to reflect an earnest dedication and commitment to Africa.
