These claims suggest an intensification of the conflict between Fano and the Ethiopian federal government.
According to DNE Africa’s tally, the fierce fighting has resulted in substantial Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) casualties and captures, with Fano claiming:
- 716 ENDF troops killed
- 188 ENDF troops captured
In Thursday’s engagement, Fano sources reported that the commander of the ENDF’s 12th Division was wounded and managed to escape, while his deputy, both colonels, was captured.
The engagements that led to these figures reportedly took place across several battles around Woldiya city and Lalibela Town, specifically mentioning:
- Battles around the towns of Kul Mesk, Muja, and Wondach.

- The entire Ras Angot District
- The entire Lasta District (with the exception of Shumesha Kebele)
- The entire Guba Lafto District (excluding Woldiya city itself)

- The entire Wadila District (with the exception of Kon city)
