Zimbabwe’s macadamia harvest could increase by 20 to 40 per cent in 2026 compared with the previous season, supported by favourable rainfall across key growing regions, according to agricultural experts.

During the 2026 marketing season, which began in March with the harvesting of early-maturing Integrifolia varieties, Zimbabwean macadamia farmers have earned US$753,278 from the sale of 917,526 kilogrammes of nuts to local buyers, according to the Agricultural Marketing Authority (AMA), as reported by The Herald, a partner of TV BRICS.

An AMA market update report showed that the country’s macadamia exports between January and May reached 1,501,140 kilogrammes, valued at US$1.42m.

The sector is expected to gain further momentum as production conditions improve. Macadamia cultivation remains an important part of Zimbabwe’s horticultural development, with increased yields expected to strengthen the sector’s contribution to agricultural growth.

Zimbabwe continues to expand cooperation in agricultural trade. Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding said that China imported 5,000 tonnes of Zimbabwean macadamia nuts worth US$12m in 2025, reflecting demand for the country’s agricultural products.
