Zimbabwe will observe National Culture Month from May 1 to May 31, 2025, under the theme “Celebrating Indigenous Voices,” following Cabinet approval of this year’s programme.
The Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Jenfan Muswere, made the announcement. He said the initiative is intended to promote cultural heritage, diversity, and unity, New Ziana reported.
“This initiative is aimed at celebrating our rich cultural heritage, promoting cultural diversity, and fostering national unity,” Muswere stated.
Throughout May, Zimbabwe will observe National Culture Month with a structured weekly programme. The first week is set to focus on traditional cooking methods and historical recipes. During the second week, an Indigenous Fashion Week will highlight traditional clothing from various communities.
The third week will feature the official national launch of the celebration. The fourth week will centre on Indigenous Languages and Cultural Dialogue, which will include performances, poetry readings, film screenings, and language workshops.
