Ghana’s official gold reserves climbed to 24.4 tonnes in June 2026, reaching a total value of US$3.65bn, according to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

The increase marks a recovery from the 18.6 tonnes recorded at the end of 2025 and the 20.8 tonnes held in March 2026, reported GNA, a partner of TV BRICS.

According to the central bank, the value of the country’s gold holdings rose from US$2.68bn at the close of 2025 to US$3.65bn by June 2026.

The growth in official gold reserves coincided with higher international gold prices and stronger export revenues during the reporting period, the central bank said, reinforcing the mining sector’s role in the country’s external earnings.

During the first half of the year, gold export earnings totalled US$12.5bn, making gold Ghana’s largest export commodity.

Gross international reserves reached US$12.94bn in June 2026, providing the equivalent of around five months of import cover, the central bank reported.
