Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will inaugurate the Alamein-Africa Forum on Saturday in the city of New Alamein, drawing broad participation from African leaders, officials, and representatives of continental and international economic institutions.
Sisi will also co-chair the summit of the founding countries of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) alongside the President of Angola, who serves as the chairperson of the agency’s Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee.
The summit will be attended by leaders and representatives of NEPAD’s founding nations—Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa—along with the President of Burundi in his capacity as the current chairperson of the African Union. Representatives of the African Union Commission and the CEO of AUDA-NEPAD will also participate in the Alamein-Africa Forum.
Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that Sisi will additionally participate in the 8th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union, which Egypt is hosting in New Alamein on Sunday, October 4. The president is scheduled to deliver Alamein-Africa Forum opening and closing remarks as the head of the host state, with several African leaders and heads of regional economic communities in attendance.
Over the course of the two days, Sisi will hold a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings with African leaders and officials to discuss ways to enhance joint African action and advance continental development and integration efforts, the spokesperson added.
