Chad and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) have inked a €110 million financing agreement to support government projects, particularly in infrastructure and trade development, strengthening cooperation between the Central African country and the continent’s trade finance institution.
Chad’s Minister of Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning and International Cooperation Tahir Hamid Nguilin and Afreximbank President George Elombi signed the agreement in Cairo, according to a statement recently issued by the Financing Ministry and Budget of Chad.
The financing is expected to support projects included in Chad’s government budget, with a focus on infrastructure development and initiatives aimed at expanding trade and economic activity.
The agreement marks a step toward deepening the partnership between Chad and Afreximbank, with the bank reaffirming its support for the country’s development priorities under its Chad Connection 2030 national development plan.

The two sides also discussed Afreximbank-backed initiatives linked to industrial development and efforts to strengthen economic resilience, including projects being developed by ARISE, a major industrial investment group.
The financing comes as Chad seeks to expand infrastructure, strengthen domestic production and improve its integration into regional and continental trade networks.

Afreximbank has increasingly expanded its role in financing infrastructure, industrialisation and intra-African trade, as governments across the continent seek to mobilise funding for projects aimed at reducing trade barriers and supporting economic diversification.
