SOCHI, Russia — Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe said on Saturday that any discussion of the Ukrainian issue must include both Russia and Kyiv.
“A peace dialogue must include all. You cannot discuss it with only one side. All parties must be involved, including their concerns, including security … We need an inclusive process in which all parties will participate: Russia, Ukraine and all interested forces. All of them must be part of the process,” Nduhungirehe told Sputnik on the sidelines of the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Sochi.
Moreover, Nduhungirehe said Rwanda took part in the Ukraine conference in Switzerland this summer and signed the resulting communiqué, although consultations among Rwandan diplomats on the provisions of the document were still ongoing.
“We said to the organizers that our country should be taken off the list. We did not confirm our signature under the declaration,” Rwandan FM added.
Russia on Saturday opened the first Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in the city of Sochi, seeking to deepen ties with African nations and dispel the notion that it is isolated by Western sanctions.
The conference is expected to draw 1,500 participants, including more than 40 ministers of foreign affairs, economy, healthcare, digital development and education from the African continent. Roscongres said that countries represented include Algeria, Angola, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Uganda, and others.
