Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Sunday reaffirmed his government’s dedication to fighting corruption and announced plans for a national dialogue to address the country’s internal challenges.
Addressing both chambers of parliament in Algiers, Tebboune stated, “We have implemented significant reforms in the justice sector to restore citizens’ confidence in the state, ensure the separation of money from politics, and relentlessly combat corruption.” He did not specify what these reforms entailed.
The Algerian President also outlined his intention to initiate a national political dialogue, aimed at tackling Algeria’s internal issues and reinforcing fundamental rights.
“This dialogue will be deep, inclusive, and far from repetitive rhetoric,” Tebboune said. He assured that the dialogue would be organised and conducted transparently, with the objectives of promoting unity and strengthening Algeria’s internal stability.
He gave no further specifics on the timing or the participants who will be involved in the dialogue.
