Algeria has reportedly confirmed the purchase of Russia’s Su-57E stealth fighter, making it the first foreign country to acquire the advanced fifth-generation aircraft, according to state media.
Algerian pilots are currently undergoing training in Russia, with the first deliveries expected later this year. The deal aligns with Algeria’s ongoing military modernization efforts to bolster its defense capabilities and maintain regional air superiority.
While specific financial details remain undisclosed, Russian officials have previously indicated that the Su-57E will be significantly more affordable than Western alternatives like the F-35. The aircraft is renowned for its cutting-edge avionics, advanced stealth features, and exceptional maneuverability. Algeria plans to have its first Su-57s operational by the end of 2026.
