Uganda’s coffee exports rose nearly 47% in the 12 months through October 2025, generating a record US$2.4 billion in export earnings, driven by higher shipment volumes and strong international prices, according to the Ministry of Agriculture’s latest monthly coffee report.

The report said Uganda exported 8.4 million bags of coffee between November 2024 and October 2025, compared with 5.8 million bags worth US$1.3 billion during the corresponding period a year earlier.

The increase represents a 46.96% rise in export volumes and a 77.33% increase in export value, underscoring the continued importance of coffee as one of Uganda’s leading foreign exchange earners.

In October 2025 alone, coffee exports reached 685,720 bags worth US$185.56 million (UGX 642.7 billion), up 38% in volume and 33% in value from the same month in 2024.

The October shipments comprised 597,925 bags of Robusta valued at US$151.51 million (UGX 524.8 billion) and 87,795 bags of Arabica worth US$34.04 million (UGX 117.93 billion).

Robusta exports increased by 31% in volume and 19% in value compared with October 2024, while Arabica recorded stronger growth, with export volumes rising 117% and export earnings climbing 182% year-on-year.

The Ministry of Agriculture attributed the figures to continued strong performance in Uganda’s coffee sector, as the country seeks to expand production and strengthen its position among Africa’s leading coffee exporters.
