The group claimed a Colonel Hussein was among the more than 300 government troops captured. It added that over 100 soldiers were killed and many others were wounded in the fighting.
The Fano statement also said its forces had taken full control of the city of Ebnat.
The rebels claimed to have captured significant military equipment, including eight Bren machine guns, a mortar, a DShK heavy machine gun, four sniper rifles, and over 100 Kalashnikov assault rifles.
