Chad President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno issued a decree on Thursday forming a new 37-member cabinet, led by Prime Minister Allamaye Halina, who was reappointed for a second term two days earlier.

The appointment follows the first session of the newly elected parliament and marks the end of a three-year transition period under Chad President Déby, who assumed power in 2021 after the death of his father.

Legislative, regional and municipal elections were held on December 29, 2024, representing a significant step in Chad’s political transition.

“The President of the Republic, Head of State, President of the Council of Ministers, in accordance with the Constitution, in accordance with Decree […] appointing a prime minister, head of government […]. The persons whose names follow are appointed members of the government and in charge of the following ministerial departments,” the decree read out by Secretary General of the Chadian Presidency Mahamat-Ahmad Alhabo stated.

The cabinet includes five ministers of state, three delegate ministers and eight secretaries of state. The cabinet was named after consultation with the new prime minister, the presidency said.

Key government positions are held by Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul as foreign minister, Issakha Malloua Djamous as defenseminister, Youssouf Tom as minister of justice, and Tahir Hamid Giling as finance minister. Amina Priscille Longoh will serve as the minister in charge of women affairs.
