TechnipFMC has secured a significant subsea contract from Italy’s Eni for the Baleine Phase 3 development offshore Côte d’Ivoire, supporting the expansion of production from the country’s largest hydrocarbon discovery.

In a statement, TechnipFMC said the contract covers the design and manufacture of flexible flowlines and risers that will connect subsea wells in water depths of around 1,200 metres to a new floating production unit.

The infrastructure will form a key component of Baleine Phase 3, the latest stage of a fast-track offshore development aimed at increasing hydrocarbon output from the Baleine field, which has emerged as a cornerstone of Côte d’Ivoire’s growing energy sector.

TechnipFMC, a global provider of energy technologies and services to the oil and gas industry, classified the award as a significant contract, placing its value between $75 million and $250 million. The order was included in the company’s inbound orders for the second quarter of 2026.

The Baleine project, operated by Eni, is the largest hydrocarbon discovery ever made offshore Côte d’Ivoire and is central to the country’s ambitions to boost oil and gas production while strengthening its position as an emerging energy producer in West Africa.

Jonathan Landes, President of Subsea at TechnipFMC, said the award reflected the continued collaboration between the two companies on major offshore developments.

“This award marks the continued expansion of our collaboration with Eni. We are excited to apply our expertise to provide a robust flexible pipe solution with schedule certainty in support of this fast-track project,” Landes said.

The latest contract follows previous phases of the Baleine development, which have been brought online through an accelerated development strategy designed to rapidly monetize the field’s resources.

Côte d’Ivoire has stepped up efforts to attract investment into its energy sector in recent years, with the Baleine field expected to play a major role in increasing national hydrocarbon production and supporting economic growth.
