Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed Cairo’s full support for the security, stability, and sovereignty of Eritrea during a bilateral meeting with his Eritrean counterpart Isaias Afwerki on the sidelines of the Alamein–Africa Business Forum.
During the high-level discussions, President El-Sisi emphasized Cairo’s commitment to respecting Eritrean sovereignty and territorial integrity, underlining that Horn of Africa stability remains a vital strategic priority for Egyptian foreign policy.
The two leaders reviewed regional security developments, focusing particularly on Horn of Africa stability, Red Sea maritime safety, and strategic coordination between Cairo and Asmara to mitigate regional tensions.
President El-Sisi and President Afwerki affirmed the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation across political, economic, and security domains, while enhancing consultations within regional mechanisms to foster sustainable development and regional integration across East Africa.
The summit highlights Cairo’s broader diplomatic engagement during the El-Alamein forum, where bilateral talks were also held with other African heads of state to align political positions and advance collective security throughout the continent.
