A fire broke out at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Sunday, but no casualties were reported, Nigeria’s Federal Airports Authority (FAAN) said.

FAAN said its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) was deployed immediately after the fire was reported and was working to contain the blaze at the time of its statement.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to inform the public that a fire incident has occurred at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos,” the authority said in a statement posted on its official X handle.

“The FAAN Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) is currently responding to the incident and working diligently to contain the situation,” it added.

The Nigerian authority said there were no reported injuries or fatalities. It did not immediately disclose the cause of the fire or say whether flight operations had been disrupted.

The incident comes about six months after another fire at the airport’s international Terminal 1. That blaze, which reportedly started in a technical area, temporarily disrupted some operations before firefighters brought it under control. No fatalities were reported.
